Professor Eliezer Shalev, 58, Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Haemek Medical Center in Afula, Israel, and a Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology at the Bruce Rappaport Faculty of Medicine in the Technion Institute of Technology, is one of Israel's most prominent and senior experts of obstetrics & gynecology.

Born in Afula, Professor Shalev was previously head of the Ultrasound Department at the Sheba Medical Center, Tel Hashomer, but spent most of his medical career at Haemek Medical Center in Afula.

Professor Shalev teaches his fields of expertise, and has taught as a visiting professor in many universities in Israel and abroad, among which are the Technion and the British Columbia University in Vancouver, Canada. Professor Shalev is also the author of numerous medical papers and researches in the fields of obstetrics, gynecology, ultrasound and fertility. He has also served as a member of scientific boards for the leading professional publications in his field of expertise.

Eliezer Shalev is considered a top expert in his field of expertise and serves as a consultant for government ministries, health care funds, pharmaceutical firms and biotechnology enterprises.
In addition to his professional functions, Professor Shalev has also served, and still serves, in many public positions both in Israel and abroad, among them as Chairman of the Israeli Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology, member of the International Federation for Obstetrics and Gynecology, a member of the Scientific Board of the Israeli Medical Association, a member of the Technological and Medical Infrastructure Advisory Committee for the Israeli Health Ministry, a member of the National Obstetrics and Gynecology Board at the Israeli Health Ministry, a member of the Israeli Academy of Sciences, a member of the Israeli Fertility Association, a member of the Israeli Ultrasound Association (where he served as chairman), and a member of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology.

Professor Shalev won many awards and prizes for his medical, scientific and public activities.
